"Biblical Texts to Show God’s Zeal for His Own Glory" by Dr. John PIper

Probably no text in the Bible reveals the passion of God for his own glory more clearly and bluntly as Isaiah 48:9-11 where God says,

For my name’s sake I defer my anger, for the sake of my praise I restrain it for you, that I may not cut you off. Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tried you in the furnace of affliction. For my own sake, for my own sake, I do it, for how should my name be profaned? My glory I will not give to another.

I have found that for many people these words come like six hammer blows to a man-centered way of looking at the world:

For my name’s sake! For the sake of my praise! For my own sake! For my own sake! How should my name be profaned! My glory I will not give to another! (Click here to read the rest of the article.)

  • Mission

Matthew created Crossthought.org to do a few things: First, he wanted to promote discussion on relevant topics that pertain to orthodox Christianity. Second, recognizing the challenge the humanist-prone culture brings, he wanted to offer an alternative. Finally, Matthew wanted to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ in all things, including with the internet.

There are many ideologies that haunt the American culture, and there are many worldviews that challenge the Judeo-Christian mindset. So, as a Christian, he felt the need (and, indeed, heeded the call) to create a ministry that would help defend the Christian faith as it was handed down from the apostles.

Matthew earned his B.A. in philosophy from the University of Central Oklahoma and has completed several graduate-level courses at both the University of Oklahoma and Biola University. Matthew is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity with an emphasis on New Testament Exegesis and Exposition from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Crossthought.org exists for two reasons:

First, the ultimate exaltation of God and the magnification of His worth is why Crossthought.org exists. We believe that giving glory to God is man's chief end and will ultimately result in man's highest pleasure.

Second, Crossthought.org seeks to pursue the Great Commission with both rich theological conviction and God-glorifying passion. We believe that Christ came to "seek and to save the lost" (Luke 19:10). Therefore, as believers in God's grace, which came through Jesus Christ, we seek to fulfill the Great Commission until our Lord's return.

soli Deo gloria!
